The fayre takes place in the grounds of Oaklands House. A large impressive house dating back to the 1800’s, Oaklands sits in the middle of the village with views down to the village church of St.Peter’s, as well as across acres of open countryside. The house was originally built as the parsonage. This year visitors to the fayre will have the opportunity to enjoy cream tea’s, cake and other refreshments on the front lawn whilst being accompanied by the sounds of Amy Baker singing songs from the 1940’s as well as Michelmersh Training Band.
Lockerley Mechanical Society will be staging a large exhibition with maps, photographs, models and artefacts telling the story of the American Army base located within the Lockerley Hall estate. Displays about the history of the local area and those that lost their lives within the wars will add to the story of the 1940’s within the locality. We are also pleased to welcome Romsey Modellers with some very intricate WW11 themed models
In the main arena visitors can enjoy Falconry Displays, a dance display, and the opportunity to see a young Gun Dog from Mullenscote Gundogs being put through their paces. There’s plenty of opportunity for participation with children's races followed by the Fun Dog Show. Come in 1940’s costume and join the fancy dress parade!
There’s the chance to ‘have a go’ at archery with the South Wilts Archery Club, and talk to the owners of a selection of beautiful classic cars as well as military vehicles, bikes and some vintage tractors and steam powered vehicles. This year we welcome back Kester, the children’s entertainer as well as Mill cottage Farm experience, who will be bringing a variety of animals. A range of local traders will temp you with their wares.
The bar will be open all day, selling a range of Hampshire beers with locally sourced Prime Burgers and Sausages from the BBQ, and not forgetting plenty of traditional strawberries and cream, bouncy castles and coconuts, cakes and Pimms.
